Overview
The European Robin is known for its timid nature, yet it can often be approached quite easily. It fiercely defends its space from intruding birds, regardless of the season.
Nesting and Reproduction
Nesting takes place between April and August, during which the female lays between four to six eggs that are speckled with hints of yellowish-brown. The nests are typically constructed on the ground, hidden under roots or clumps of grass. While the female takes on the primary role of brooding, the male assists by providing food for the chicks.
Vocalization
The European Robin is also celebrated for its melodious song, which reflects its vitality and showcases a rich variety of trills and phrases. Listening to its song is truly a delight for nature enthusiasts.
