January and February 2022 pictures

Posted on 15-02-2022

First photos taken at the beginning of 2022. Photographic outings are always an opportunity to contemplate nature, even if encounters with wildlife are not always there.
Among the interesting encounters, the Tundra Swan is a bird that I see for the first time in the Camargue.

Tundra Swan nests in arctic tundra, across northern Russia, in these breeding grounds it is found in marshy wet meadows.
Like other swans, its plumage is white but its neck is shorter. The clearest criterion for recognizing it is the proportion of yellow and black on the beak: two thirds black, one third yellow (it's the opposite for the Whooper Swan).
Some have chosen the Camargue as a wintering place. It is a long-distance migrant.
