    The Ecrins massif

    The Ecrins National Park was created in 1973, it is the largest national park in France. It covers a high mountain area whose beauty of the peaks is known worldwide and is the delight of mountaineers around the world. Over 100 peaks exceed 3000 meters. It is a high mountain region, with peaks around 4,000 meters :

    • Dôme de Neige des Écrins : 4 015 mètres
    • L'Ailefroide : 3 954 mètres

    • Roche Faurio : 3 730 mètres
    • Montagne des Agneaux : 3 664 mètres
    • Pic of Neige Cordier : 3 614 mètres

    The White glacier, and its brother the Black glacier is located at the foot of high peaks of which the Barre des Ecrins is one of the most beautiful sites. The white glacier begins at 4,102 m above sea level at the foot of the Barre des Écrins and ends at 2,300 m above sea level near the Glacier Blanc refuge. It is the most important glacier of the Ecrins massif with these 5 kilometers long. These two glaciers met again in 1815.
